My name is Erin O'Reilly and I fell in love with gerbils 23 years ago when I brought my first little one, Oatmeal, home from the pet store. Since then, my passion for gerbils has only grown and I look forward to sharing that with you. I am located in Millis, Massachusetts and adopt out gerbil pups locally.
I first began breeding in 2020. My goal as a breeder is to raise outgoing, social, healthy pets. I strive to breed gerbils who quickly approach and climb into hands, ones who enjoy their people as much as they enjoy them! I only breed on occasion, with one or two pairings a year (each pairing producing two litters). This allows me to give every pup ample attention so that they are tame for their future adopters, and ensures that all of my adult gerbils are spoiled too!
Every gerbil at Thelodar is a much loved pet and it is very important to me that every pup I adopt out is going to be well cared for. Please do research on proper care before bringing your little ones home. I am more than happy to give advice and answer questions, I love to talk gerbil! I will not adopt out a gerbil if I do not feel they will be well cared for, but would much prefer to educate new owners than simply turn them away.
Thank you for visiting my site! I hope you enjoy looking around and learning. Please reach out if you are interested in adopting or are interested in learning more about gerbils.
One of the first things people asked me when I started breeding was how I came up with the name Thelodar. The name is actually just a combination of the names of my three college gerbils Theo, Logan, and Darwin. After the passing of my gerbils in high school I reluctantly took a break from gerbil ownership because I knew I wouldn't be able to have them in college dorms. During college I volunteered at a local animal shelter which always had a good number of rodent guests in addition to dogs and cats. In my senior year I moved out of the dorms and went straight to the shelter which, as luck would have it, had its hands full with an influx of gerbils. I brought Theo, Logan, and Darwin home and immediately fell in love with gerbils all over again. I consider them the gerbils that reignited my love of gerbils after being away from them for several years. They were perfect gerbils in every way, exemplifying the outgoing, friendly temperament I strive for, and it felt right to name my kennel in their honor.
